I said, “If they want to live they will.”
“And what about you?” she asked me, her body even closer, those amazing breasts pressing up against me. Her lips were so full and so close, her presence so easy with mine.
It almost gave me hope.
And that’s what worried me most.
I said, “Baby, I ain’t got time for any ... private consultations.”
“As your attorney, I strongly suggest you reconsider.” With one brave swipe of her left arm, Sabrina cleared most of her big, glass desk and pulled me toward her as she fell onto it. She kissed me hard, her tongue hungry for me, drawing me toward it and away from all the chaos and murder. She wrapped her legs around my waist, her skirt hiking up around her hips. She began panting into my ear, her breath hot against my neck. I heard myself groan, low and long, growling into her ear in a way that always inspires her loving little coos.
It was like she was singing.
It was like she was crying.
Her legs pulled me in, and I didn’t fight her. My arms finally responded to her call, launching themselves around her as my tongue gained the upper ground on hers. I pulled her in with my arms, pushed her away with my tongue, in a give-and-take that we both knew well.
Sabrina’s hair was soft and silky and smelled vaguely of strawberries. Her perfume was very faint, which she knew I preferred. Her little ears were flawless and dainty on my lips, my nose tracing their curves with a gentle sort of playfulness that we both knew wouldn’t last.
The force and the delicacy, the strength and the vulnerability, we knew ourselves and each other too well to deny the chemistry.
All that nylon-encased thigh, shining against the gleaming chrome and glass; her feet twirling idly at the ends of her shapely calves. She pulled her blouse open, and it was not in vain.

The cold cold ground, why two "colds " ? Because it's just a little over the top. Edgy? Ok maybe that was the goal, for me it just missed. Don't get me wrong I enjoyed the story but each coincidence , each characterization, each hair breadth escape, just like Franks luck was a little to far over to feel real. But if you like noir P.I. tales especially those with that Marlow, Bogy feel this should work well for you. It's fun and fast, good versus evil and linear .Product details

great book read it quickly, spelling errors though...making it more annoying than anything else to get past, otherwise good book.
I have always loved crime novels. Not for the crime but for the way it is solved and the guilty is punished, for that is part of my worldview -- that crime should be justly punished. Thus I started reading this novel with great anticipation, and I must say I was fully rewarded.
What prompted me to read was the author's introduction that says, "When a Los Angeles Police Department detective is blown up in his car, his partner must reach out to Frank Cage for help. Frank sees a chance to solve the crime and finally bring down the corrupt forces behind the police department. The case involves a huge shipment of stolen heroin, the Columbian drug cartel that wants it back, and someone in the DEA who knows too much. "
The author presents the story in a galvanizing manner, often using sentences that project the scene in front of the reader. For example, "I turned the corner between two disused warehouses. I felt alone, but I knew better than that. I'd learned on the dusty streets of Iraq during Desert Storm that quiet did not always mean alone."
My Observations
*** Great plot, even greater way of presenting it as a novel.
*** Great language, vivid imagery.
*** Surprising climax.
My Recommendation
*** I strongly recommend this novel to loves of Crime stories!
*** I look forward to reading more of this author.
